Never Clean Your Gutters Again?—It’ll Never Happen

It’s a tempting claim, ‘Lose 50 Pounds Without Diet or Exercise! ’  ‘Run your Diesel Engine on Water!! ’  Boy, I’d like to believe it, a nice dream, but it is a dream.

I don’t care if you call it leaf guard, a gutter, a helmet or even a glove. Over a few seasons, dirt, seeds, shingle residue, pine needles or whatever are going to get through and settle to the bottom of your gutter trough. As they build up that accumulation will slow down, impede or stop the flow of water through your gutters. You need to get up there (or pay someone to get up there) and physically clean out the gutters. You can use a pressure spray or brush or whatever, but that goo/slime/residue at the bottom of your gutters needs to be gone.

Why do I write this? Because I have had the pleasure of dealing with ice dams in the middle of Winter and have had the nauseating feeling of seeing my ceiling drywall turn those shades of gray when they’re wet.

Take a look at http://www.gutterbrush.com I like the product because it’s simple, straightforward and economical. It does not eliminate cleaning your gutters but minimizes your gutters being clogged with leftover leaves, seed pods, sticks and all the other things that show up throughout the year. Check out their web site for more information and pricing.

Thanks for your time. If we can help, please fill out the form for our service. If you truly believe you have your gutters protected and you won’t need to ever clean them, then I have a weight & diet program for you!!

Clogged Gutters from Leaves??-Get Down in the Gutter with Them

Posted by jaclarge | Posted in Blog | Posted on 17-09-2009

You’ve heard the expression if you want to catch a (insert bad person here) you have to get right into the gutter with them. With leaves in your home’s gutters, it’s the same thing. I know there are gutter covers, screens, helmets, guards etc., but even if you have those, you still need to clean your gutters. It’s like the old Hoosier poem:

The gutters need a-cleaning sir, the gutters need a-cleaning.

Sticks and dirt and lots of leaves, the gutters need a-cleaning.

You paid good money for the guard, the helmet or other contraptions,

But my friend, your gutters are clogged, need hands to dig out obstructions.

Sooner or later with time and weather, with leaf dust and gravity,

Goo collects in the bottom which has to be cleaned to set the water free.

I know it’s tough, it really is, like a calf taken from mothers’ udders

But in the fall, one way or the other, Please Clean Out Your Gutters!

Don’t Let Those Leaves Lie (and that’s the Truth)

Come on Joe, you say…I’ll bag as many as I can and just let the rest of them lie, not hurting anything, in fact that’s the way nature intended, right?

Oh my misguided friend…you sound like me, I thought the same thing. I got the leaves up the best I could, then ran out of time or couldn’t find anyone to help so I let them lay on my yard all Winter..

Here are just a few things that happened to my yard;

  • Had dead spots on my lawn the size of a Buick which took a year to recover
  • Got a dreadful case of mold that got on some my perenni..my perren…oh you know those flowers that come back year after year
  • Leaves that were out all year are a lot harder to manage since they’re wet and smelly…& did I mention they had mold growing everywhere…

Remember, if you can’t see your lawn through a layer of leaves, neither can the sun. Finally, it’s a great breeding ground for slugs and all types of creepy crawlies..

I did mention the mold didn’t I..??

So Joe, what do I do?

Just fill out the form. We’ll either inspect your lot through Google maps or drive by and see about how many leaves you have to rake up and bag etc. Then:

  • I’ll contact you by e-mail or phone (your choice) with the price for raking up and bagging your leaves.
  • Price will include at least two trips. Why? because we don’t want the leaves lying on the ground since they will damage your lawn in fairly short order.
  • We’ll send you an e-mail that describes our scope of work which you’ll need to respond to within 5 days if you agree to the price.
  • Email us when you want the leaves done, we’ll do it and leave the bill for you on your front door.

Why Leaf Pick up Online?

Because last year I went through the frustrating time of trying to find someone that could really do a good job.

  • The first contractor that came out was by himself, helped by his pregnant wife
  • Both of them worked for over 4 hours before I sent them away, after lousy work, not finishing and making me feeling guilty that a pregnant woman was working on my yard.
  • Every time I would call, I would get a voice mail. The service wouldn’t call back or if they did, it would be late into the night.
  • PLUS on top of this, they wouldn’t give me a cost, “We’ll work, then you pay us” or “We don’t do gutters, or bagging”…

That drove me nuts! So this year, I vowed I would set it up a system on-line where you could schedule leaf raking and pick up and know in advance how much it would cost.

I’ve personally checked the contractors that are doing this work, if there are any problems, let me or your designated foreman, (whose name you’ll have) know.
